Earlier today, I started the New Year off on the right foot with a solid five-mile run. Once I got over the fact that I wasn’t going to be able to feel my nose or fingers, I reflected on 2013 and how much things have changed in my life in recent memory. Heck, just a few years ago, New Years Day was all about nursing a hangover and trying to remember how confetti wound up in certain places of my body!

But in all seriousness, I am looking forward to seeing what 2014 holds from a running perspective. For the first time since becoming a runner, I am entering the new year knowing which half marathons I’ll be participating in for the first half of the year (races below). I think having this insight will certainly give me a mental edge, as I slog through training in cold weather and ice (I refuse to run the treadmill for more than three miles). As for what the rest of the year will hold… well, we’ll just have to wait and see.

What races do you have planned for 2014?
